Summary of Position

We are seeking an Associate Scientist/Scientist to assist with IconOVir’s discovery and development efforts. Reporting to the Head of Translational Research, the successful candidate will be responsible for development and validation of molecular assays.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform method development, validation, and sample analysis for the extraction and quantitation of specific nucleic acids for CMC, preclinical and clinical studies supporting the development of cell and gene therapies
  • Perform and optimize cell-based immunoassays, including MSD, ELISA, flow cytometry, qPCR, and Digital Droplet PCR
  • Conduct cytotoxicity assays
  • Culture primary tumor cells
  • Develop and characterize in vivo mouse models
  • Successfully execute and document laboratory procedures and experiments with great attention to detail
  • Analyze and interpret data, prepare summary tables and review raw data
  • Supervise and train analysts and junior scientists and troubleshoot assays
  • Manage material, equipment and instrumentation, and keep accurate inventories of supplies for laboratory; forecast future needs based on projections
  • Identify, monitor and manage external providers for sourcing of molecular-biology specific reagents and activities
  • Write SOPs, study plans and reports
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to advance pipeline development
  • Keep up to date with the literature in the field

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree with a minimum of 4 years industry experience required or a PhD
  • The ideal candidate will have a molecular biology, synthetic biology, virology, oncology, immunology, and/or human genetics background
  • Hands-on experience with developing and validating cell-based immunoassays
  • Experience in research or translational research in biologics (monoclonal antibodies, cell therapy, or oncolytic viruses)
  • Experience with maintaining electronic lab notebooks and appropriate documentation
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, effective communication, and demonstrated ability to work well and influence across functional teams
